About The Garden Sculpture Gallery

The Garden Sculpture Gallery showcases a collection of life sized, modern life study themed sculptures created by long-standing friends Phil Orford and Fran Freeman. Their unique range of cold cast bronze sculptures are crafted and cast in their workshop in Worcestershire, and are hand-finished to fashion a naturally weathered look.

The impetus for Phil and Fran’s work began in 2011 when they were looking for outdoor sculptures for their own gardens. In their search it became obvious that there was a definite gap in the market for affordable, unique, life sized sculptures. As such they embarked on a collaborative project, using their complimentary skills to create some sculptures for themselves.

Phil has experience in casting and Fran has an artistic background with a special interest in life study. In the early stages of their joint venture Fran’s father, Bert Ridout supported them with his experience of mould making and casting. Then more recently Phil and Fran have been assisted by Steve Wright whose expertise in casting and finishing processes has been invaluable. From the onset of their joint creative project Phil and Fran continued to experiment with their sculptures.

Their focus on quality and a desire to break away from the traditional image of life sized bronzes has culminated in this collection of sculptures with an elegance that is classically contemporary and relevant to the modern day.
